I felt a special connection to her because my middle name is Anissa. The show had already been cancelled (I was three) by the time I started watching the reruns. The relationship between Buffy and Jody made me long for a twin brother.

When someone asks where my mother got the name Anissa I always tell them that my mother named me after Buffy on Family Affair and that her real name was Anissa Jones. Hello, I just happened to see your web site, and I wanted to leave a comment in memory of Anissa Jones.I enjoyed watching Family Affair as a child,and thought it was pretty cool to find out that we went to the same school's together.Back in the 70's I attended Orville wright Jr.High and later,Westchester High school.Although she was older then me,I remembered the buzz at school that she was attending classes there. I never got to see her on campus during that time though. However, I did get to see her once. It was during the summer of 1976, my older sister, younger brother and I were shopping at our neighborhood toy store called Karl's, off of Manchester Blvd. It just happened that I was waiting in line behind Anissa. I knew who she was. It was kind of strange to see her as a young adult, when I only known her as Buffy. I remember her wearing a mini skirt and clunky looking shoe's with big heel's (popular at the time). Her skirt highlighed her figure,making her look more mature. Also, I remembered her blond hair was parted down the middle and very wavy.I didn't say anything to her unfortunatly. You know how it is, the awkward teenage year's, shy about talking to member's of the opposite sex, and especially a star! When she walked out the store, we all looked at each other and said wow! that was "Buffy"! I have to admit, it was kinda exciting. She was one of the first "star's" I've seen where she was just like any other regular person.(you know what I mean?)No hype! It was sad to have learned that she died that same summer,especially from a drug overdose. She was so young. It made me think about my own mortality, It's one thing to have someone die, But when their young, and close to your own age group, It make's you stop and think for awhile. I got to see her story on E the true hollywood story,(SAD) and I would like to say that I hope Anissa finally has peace, and the family that she alway's wanted. Thank You. Bob Sebring

I was about 4 or 5 years old when Family Affair Debuted on CBS in 1966. I guess because I was a child and Anissa and Johnny were children that there was Jjust an immediate "magic" for me. I always watched every week, and wanted a Mrs. Beasley doll doll, she was to me a memory of the show, I am in the works ofmaking a Buffy doll, Porcelain with a reproduction Mrs Beasley doll. She will be 40" tall tall and she is my tribute to Anissa, I will always remember the summer day I found out about when Buffy died I got out of school for the summer and was shocked. Why would someone so sweet and an american an icon do thBut life goes on and so does Buffy in the re-runs. We need to have TVLAND bring the show back, I miss the TV from the 1960's Tv today is crap! It was a shame that her mother treated her like nothing more than a meal ticket. She had so much potential to be anything that she was wanted to be. She was such a talented, sweet little girl that she could have carried that into her adulthood. It was a shame she did not have the proper guidance to take her further in life.

I started to watch all the old shows on TV and one that caught my eyes was Family Affair. My mother enjoyed the show very much and had wondered if Anissa Jones would be watching herself playing the part of Buffy. I decided to go to the website to get more information on the little girl that we loved to watch so much with her TV brother and was so very surprised to learn that Anissa have died in 1976. This is going to sound strange, but Buffy did not pass away. I was told years ago that she had. She was recently on some kind of music awards show aired on Channel 7 in Chicago. They introduced her as Buffy from Family Affair. I was stunned when I saw her take the mic! I called another family member and asked if this awards show was live. My sister Pamela loved & adored the character Anissa portrayed on Family Affair so that our father purchased the Mrs. Beasely doll for her at a time when our toys (because we comprised 9 children) consisted only of make-believe items. Upon hearing of Annisa's demise, our mother said "never mention this to your sister...it would break her heart". We never did. What a wonderful influence Anissa had on little girls around the globe. I would just like yo say that at age 41 I still get a great deal of pleasure watching Family Affair.Iguess it brings back nice child hood memories for me.To me the Davis family's way of living on the show is the way I would have liked to live.Don't get me wrong I had a happy childhood myself.it's just that when I think about my childhood i remember the fun times I had and Family affair is part of them.I am deeply sadened to know that there are cast members who were on the show that are no longer with us.In thier memory i thank them for forever being a part of my life and also to the ones that are slill with us.I have even introduced Family Affair to little ones in my life.Needless to say they also enjoy the show.Hopefully this is just a small piece of thier childhoods that they will remember just the same way I did.To the Davis family of Family Affair and all the others involved I deeply thank you.I am priveleged yo be able to view this show up in Vancouver Canada.Please take care,from your Canadian friend.Peace to you all.

Anissa Jones was such a beautiful child and grew to be a beautiful young woman. Her life ended way too soon. Anissa, along with Johnnie Whitaker, will continue to bring joy to her fans with the repeats of Family Affair. They will always be known to the world as Buffy and Jodie, 2 very talented, absolutely cute kids...no other child actors leave such a wonderful memory except Shirley Temple. Anissa was truly very special and her family should find comfort that this little angel is in Heaven and in very good hands of God.

i grew up with this show as i was just three years older than anissa. i just found out a few years ago that she died. i have been so struck by the sadness of this. this was and is a very special child.it seems as though she never found the love she so deserved. that was such a wonderful show. anissa seems like a person who was very unique and was never truly appreciated for who she was. i lost my own son in a car accident when he was seven. this has to be one of the most tragic stories of any child stars. i wish i could have known her in person. thank you for keeping her memory alive. jerry

Now I wake up every morning at 7 just to see it!!!! I didn't know Anissa died at 18 and now I'm looking at all webs-sites about her and her death. I also noticed that our birth dates are similar. I'd like to say...I think that it's so sad that Anissa Jones had to pass away at such a very young age. 18, just the begining of her young life. It's such a real shame that she died so, so young. She didn't even get a chance at a life, that she could have had. Wish those creepy DRUGS wouldn't have killed her, like they did. What a real shame. She had so much going for her. She had lots of potential, but, didn't even get to use/live it. So SAD. I was saddened by hearing about her death way back in 1976. I'm two years older than her. Anissa brought so much joy to the world, and I am almost certain she is bringing the same joy to wherever she is now. God knows the reasons why things happen, and he obviously had his reasons for calling her HOME at such a young age.I personally think he forgives her for her worldly sins which we all commit, and saw the beauty within. If you read a lot about her life story, which I have, it seems as though she was troubled and needed a helping hand or ear. I think God heard and not only listened but extended his hand for everlasting peace. This world is filled with so much heartache, some of us turn to drugs or alcohol as an escape, which is exactly what Anissa did. Drugs are a weapon, which can lead to distruction.Because Anissa was so young, she did not understand that God could have helped her, while she was still here, but it sounds as though her head was so clouded , she looked to the wrong sources for help. She is now with God, and is free of hurt and pain. God bless you Anissa and rest in peace.

"Buffy" is a facet of my personality. I have a brother 18 months older than I, not real twins, but the Irish veriety for sure. My mother used to dress us like Buffy and Jody. I didn't have pig tails, I had Buffy tails, my brothers hair was curly like Johhny's, so we were like the areas mascotts for a while it was so strange, I can't remember how many weddings My brother and I did at that age, as flower girl and ring bearer. I had the Mrs. Beasley Doll, and when I lost it I was heartbroken, they did finally reissue a Mrs. Beasly in 2000 and I have the new version. It's strange to age beyond your idols. I looked very very much like Annisa, so I wounder when looking in the mirror sometimes, what if!?

She was a very talented young lady and grew up to be very pretty. She would have been a great asset to Hollywod had she continued but her instincts led her life to be a typical normal teenager and with that comes consequences. As I was growing up around the same time like Anissa I recall watching, "Family Affair". It was a cute and real family orientated TV series, among many at that time. Upon hearing of her untimely death it made me sad and even now as I gaze upon her photos years later it's so sweet to see that her memory lives on. It's regretful that her life ended too soon and with drugs. May God Bless Anissa and that she is forever loved and remembered.

I was five years younger than Anissa so I was very familiar with the show. As I look back at her brief teenage life, I can absolutely understand what she was going through. As a teenage guitar player in the 70s, the evils which so plagued her life were to plague mine 5 years later. Nothing she experienced (including her parents' relationship with one another) varied from mine. Her stupidity and her recklessness was no different than mine. I am 44 years old now. As a mature man, I can look back and notice only one difference in our lives...I survived and she did not. There is no reason why I should have survived. Why? God's grace? It must be. She has gone on and we are left missing her...and asking why.
Anissa Jones was a very very pretty young lady and she was one of my favorites when she was around and I used to watch Family Affair each week. It was said the way she went and that she didn't get the help she needed. Family Affair was a great program and Anissa helped make the program great. I was excited to watch Anissa on TV each week. Family was one of the best program on TV in the 60's. The whole cast was great and so was Anissa. She was such a very lovely young lady and I enjoyed wathing her each week. Today is Memorial Day, 2008---so I'm particularly thinking of Anissa Jones, probably my favorite child star. I've been fortunate enough in the last five years to speak several times with her mother, Paula as well as her very knowledgable fan Brian O'hara who treated me to a wealth of information about her and I've compiled it all into a manuscript, as yet unpublished. Maybe someday it can be seen by more than the few people I've sent copies to. Thank God all five seasons of her show are now available on DVD since it never seems to be shown otherwise on cable TV. These comments about Anissa stand out for me: Brian: "I gave away all my pictures of her. My understanding of her goes deeper than that, so I don't need them." Kathy Garver: "I thought Anissa a dear girl. Paula was right on one thing, Anissa was sweet and vulnerable. She stayed at my house a few times and I could see how kind she was." And finally her mother Paula: "Anissa thought everyone was wonderful. She was vulnerable and got swept away. I had a nickname for her: 'Sweets.' I miss her cheerful little face. I'm watching a "Family Affair" DVD with two of my kids right now. Watching her and thinking of her tragic end, its as though I have lost someone close. We were the same age and I enjoyed the show very much when I was young. I remembered a teacher in high school telling me that "Buffy" had died in such a tragic way. My sister had a Mrs. Beasley doll. We grew up in that generation. Family Affair was one of our favorite shows. Very well done. Anissa was very good in the show and one of my favorite stars. I remember the night on the local 11:00 news back in 1976 when I was in my room and my mom called me over into my sister's room. We heard the news from a small TV set in that room. It was one of the headline stories. Shocked the heck out of us! So many years have past since then. Seems like another lifetime ago. I haven't seen Family Affair in about ten years. Of course, the DVD seasons are available for sale. But, Anissa gave people like me and my sister a bit of pleasure out of life. For that I am thankful. I know she's at peace now.

You died doing the things so many of us did but doing them in such a way that you lost your life. Can you blame the fame or was it just the 70's? Sex drugs and rock and roll. I used to watch Family Affair when it was a brand-new show, and also in reruns on TV Land. I now have all five seasons on DVD. Anissa's death was horribly tragic; I wish that she had gotten help before things had gotten so out of hand. But she is in Heaven now, in the loving embrace of the Lord. I never saw an episode of Family Affair. I only heard about Anissa Jones after Dana Plato died. I saw Anissa's story on E! I was saddened to learn about her troubled life, and untimely death. 18 is much too young to die. Hopefully, she is at peace now. It is truly a shame that she is no longer with us. I am at present a "grown" 32 year-old man, but every morning when I go to Manhatten to "visit" Buffy and Jody. I am a complete and total "kid" again! The strange thing is, it feels Good! Anissa was very, very good on this "classic" television show. I just wish her "life" could have affored a different direction. What a waste! I honestly do not think she ever realized the "talent" in which she had! It is ashame we all can't be "granted" a second chance! Because if anybody ever deserved it, she certianly did! She was an adorable little girl but in the later episodes she never seemed to smile and didn't seem to be very happy. I was surprised to see she was only 4 years younger than me. This could explain her unhappiness in portraying a character much younger than she actually was. Thank you, Susan B.

I watched "Family Affair" when I was very young. I like this show very much. I still have Mrs. Beasley doll at my home and I always keep it because it is good memory. I was sad to hear that Anissa was so young to die. I hope she is happy up in heaven right now. "Family Affair" alway will be cherished forever.

2/01/00 I just finnished watching the E channel - about Mary Anissa Jones... I was sorry to see that her life was in such turmoil. The show left me with a feeling of how much she was used by so many people... for profit.

For some reason completely unbeknownst to me, the story of Anissa Jones fascinates me. I am really dissappointed I missed her Biography tonight, but I would like to see more pictures of her from her later years up until her death. I guess she's proof no matter how sweet and innocent you may look, death is at the doorstep for us all.

I just watched the biography on tv tonight about Anissa Jones and I never really knew what happened to her but, I do remember coming home from school and my mother telling me I was 13 years old in the 6th grade.I was completely upset of the news and was in disbelief but, I remember my mother telling me that it was a sucide. She was a role model for all the young kids that age during that time but, I never really got the whole picture until tonight when I watched the biography I felt sad for her and it was really sad the kind of life she lead and her mother kept pushing her into all the appearances also I think it should have been Anissa's choice if she wanted to do it or not.I only wish I had knew her because if I had saw what was happening I believe in my heart I would have took her aside and tried to be a friend and perhaps made a difference but, I believe Anissa, Sebastian Cabot, Brian Keith, is all together in heaven looking down on all of us smileing with peace in their hearts.I thank god for re-runs I am a 36 year old mother with 3 daughters ages 13,7, and 2 glad they are able to watch the kind of shows I watched as a child.I also wanted to say keep up this website it is great to do this in memory of Anissa Jones that we all love you and you will always be in our prayers and hearts.

I also grew up in the 70's watching family affair and it became an important part of my existance then and even now. I myself have a "real" 21" Mrs. Beasley doll which I have saved over the years for my own daughter. Such a shame to loose a precious little girl like Anissa. I hope finally found peace.
I still cry about you being gone. It's hard to watch reruns of Family Affair because when I see you I feel so sad.

Anissa would like to be known as something other than 'Buffy Davis', I do know. But through her great talent, she reprents something wonderful to me each and every time I watch a rerun of FA. It takes me to a time when life was happy and people had some morales left, a time when little girls, even when she was 13 in her last year of the show, were still allowed to be just that, rather than these days, they strive to be older. Anissa was a very special young lady and the tradgedy of her death still brings tears. I hope now in heaven, shes found what she was unable to find on this earth...happiness... There is a scene from the Family Affair episode "The New Phone" that I often think of when I see pictures of Anissa. Her "Uncle Bill" is talking to her about how some day she will see herself in the mirror in curlers, and think "there's Buffy all grown up". It always makes me sad, because she never had a chance to be happy as a grownup. God Bless You, Anissa. You gave lots of love and laughter, and you are missed.

I got my first mrs. beasley doll when I was 5 I don't even remember watching family affair. I loved her so much that i often got my butt whipped for not letting other childern play with her. she went every where with with me, I even remember leaving her at the grocery store and makingmy mothewr late for work because she had to go back and get her so that i would stop crying. one day I left her out on the front porch and a dog chewed her up, i wouldn't stop crying so my mother patched her up with a cup towel and she never left my side. although the next year my mom bought me another one the old one went went in her chest of memories which she eventually lost in a storage place, she was a single mother of 5 and at times things were tough. I still had my new doll. when I was 12 my oldest sister had a baby girl and she would play with Mrs. Beasley all the time. later on my sister and her husband split up and he kidnapped my neice. the only thing he took with her was Mrs. Beasley. As i grew up and started acheiving the things that I wanted Irelized that there was only one thing that I wanted and that was to have her back. every year for Christmas my husband would take me out to look for my lost love.6 years no luck. i was telling one of my customers that another year and no Mrs Beasley when a lady asked me if I was talking about an old polka dotted doll, when I replied yes she said she had one in her attic I started crying, I could'nt beleive she would just put her in the attic I bought her for a $100.00 in perfect she is the best friend I have ever had. call me crazy but just having her has put piece in my heart.

I had only recently started watching Family Affair. I really love the show. Then I saw the E!True Hollywood Story about Anissa, and was absolutely crushed. It took almost a month for me to accept the fact that she was gone. It may sound strange but the thought of Buffy Davis not being with us anymore is just mind boggling. She was way too young to go.
I remember when Family Affair premiered in September 1966. I had just entered the third grade and I was 8 years old, the same age Anissa Jones was. I had just graduated high school in 1976 and remember how saddened I was by her death. I wish that they'd air Family Affair again soon. It was on TV land for a while.

Memories of this show rolled back into my mind, when my children and I were discussing names... we go onto the subject of "Buffy" and I explained how not only was that one of the characters of my favorite TV show, but because of her sweetness and awesome acting ability, I thought it would be agreat honor to have my Siamese cat named after her. My cat Buffy lived a good 14 years before passing away due to old age. It's so hard to imagine that Alissa "Buffy" is not with us any longer. it's such a shame to see such a beautiful little girl who grows into such a beautiful young woman leave us.....way to soon and at the wrong hands. I'm sure if Anissa were here today, her sparkling presence would still be entertaining us on the screen. I grew up watching Family Affair and since I was an only child, Buffy and Jody became the brother and sister I longed to have in real life. I was very young when Anissa passed away, but I can still remember feeling the hurt...just as if I lost a real sister. God must have had some business up there that he needed taken care of and felt she was the one who could do it, so she had to go home. I wonder if she knows how we all still love her? There'll NEVER be another Buffy.

I was only nine years old when she died. I was watching "The Brady Bunch" when the news broke between commericals. It's hard to believe that with in two more weeks that her death was twenty five years ago.
My only wish now is that Nick or Nite or one of those syndicate tv broadcast would air the show. The show was actually did considerable better than the Brady Bunch in the Nielson ratings; when they were prime time.
Just one more thing to add, I saw a special last week on child stars, entitled "Where are they now" and when Johnny Whittaker turned 18, he got about 90k from his trust fund. He was really excited, until he learned how much he had really earned, which was estimated at about 1.1 million. Most of it went to family expenses. The same with Anissa's and other child stars.
